During the visit, General Giang and other delegates spent much time watching products of scientific projects conducted by the academy’s teachers and students over the past years; checking the staff’s working places, education and training facilities, and accommodation for cadets; and talking with officers, teachers and cadets.

General Giang and the delegation had a meeting with the academy’s chain of command, including the academy’s Rector, Major General Nguyen Cong Dinh, and its Political Commissar, Senior Colonel Cao Tien Minh.

Leaders of the academy briefed the mission on the academy’s task performance in the 2011-2016 period as well as directions for the implementation of its assignments in the future.

The academy is classified as a national key university and a large center for scientific and technological research of the country and military, which is mainly in charge of training technical experts and technical officers at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels to serve the army and civilian sectors.

Over the past years, the academy’s leadership has focused on improving the quality and capacity of its education managers and teaching staff, and building on its strong and clean Party organization and developing it as a comprehensively strong unit.

At this point, the academy provides 42 undergraduate courses, 29 master and doctorate programs, and many short refresher courses to meet an urgent need for military units. The academy’s teaching staff actively innovate training methods and training programs, and boost scientific research, in line with the orientations to modernize the army as well as master plans of the military and country.

The academy has successfully completed hundreds of large scientific research projects with high applicability, and produced dozens of new products, serving the military and other socio-economic sectors.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission and Defense Ministry, General Giang hailed and highly valued the fruitful results attained by the academy over the past years, particularly scientific research outcomes.

General Giang asked the academy’s leadership to continue improving the quality and capacity of the academy’s teaching staff, innovating its training methods and programs to raise the training quality, pushing up the teaching and learning of foreign languages, and well organizing examinations and other professional activities, to meet an increasing demand for military modernization.    

General Giang also urged the academy’s education and training managers and teaching staff to invest in scientific and technological research projects with high applicability to serve military training, combat readiness, and efficient management, maintenance and use of weapons and equipment.

Finally, the academy is instructed to uphold political and ideological education, military order and discipline; to well manage its troops; and to continuously improve material and cultural lives of all officers, teachers, cadets and students.
