In his opening remarks, Lt. Gen. Pham Truong Son underlined that over the past time, the Chemical Corps has given recommendations to the Central Military Commission (CMC), the Ministry of National Defense (MND), and the General Staff (GS) on policies and solutions for responding to chemical, biological, radioactive, and nuclear incidents; settling post-war toxic chemicals' consequences; conducting epidemic prevention and control; and handling environmental pollution, among others.

Meanwhile, the corps has focused on education and training work and purchased many modern weapons and equipment, meeting the requirements of the Fatherland defense and protection tasks.

In the time to come, the GS deputy chief required Brigade 88 to soon stabilize the organization in all aspects, build internal solidarity, and promptly undertake assignments.

Also, the brigade should strictly grasp and effectively implement the resolutions, directives, orders, regulations and instructions of the Party, State, CMC, MND, GS, and the Chemical Corps on military and defense task performance.

Meanwhile, the unit should raise troops’ political stance and heighten their determination to overcome difficulties and accomplish all assigned missions, contributing to building a comprehensively-strong, exemplary and typical unit.

The brigade should strictly follow the orders of the MND and GS and directives and instructions of MND’s functional agencies and the Chemical Corps on combat readiness tasks; maintain combat readiness regulations and closely follow the situation; as well as team up with the local forces and stay ready to undertake missions as requested, to name but a few.
