Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, and Chief of the Vietnam Border Guard Command Major General Le Duc Thai sent flowers of congratulations to the unit.

At the event

Dam Thuy Border Post was founded on December 23, 1977. In the 1999-2009 period, the unit overcame all difficulties, exerted all-out efforts to complete all assignments and firmly protect national territorial integrity and border security as well as uphold local political security, social order and safety.

It is the first unit to launch programs to raise the public awareness of border and land marker protection to raise the synergy in border protection. It has also actively given recommendations to higher levels and local Party committee and authorities to effectively carry out the cooperation agreement on exploiting and protecting tourism resources in and around Ban Gioc waterfall. It has proactively fought crimes as well.

Addressing the event, Lieutenant General Do Danh Vuong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of teh Vietnam Border Guard Command, hailed the unit’s achievements in the past. He emphasized that receiving the “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title is a big honor of Dam Thuy Border Post in particular, and the Cao Bang provincial Border Guard Command in general.

General Vuong asked the Party Committee and leaders of the unit to continue to make recommendations to the Party Committees and commanders of Cao Bang provincial Border Guard and of Trung Khanh district to work out more effective measures to protect the national territorial integrity and border security.

They should also make active contributions to local socio-economic development, poverty reduction and hunger elimination, new-style rural building, and to the building of the whole people’s border posture coupling with firm the whole people’s defense disposition and people’s security posture.

On behalf of the State President, General Vuong conferred the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” on Dam Thuy Border Post.
