Previously, Vessel Vietship 01 with 12 crew members onboard went adrift, ran aground, and sank partially about 500m offshore due to strong winds and high waves. Upon receiving the order from the Ministry of National Defense, Army Corps 18 sent helicopter VN-8624 with an airborne search and rescue team to the scene to collaborate with the local authorities for the rescue mission.

The helicopter rescued six crewmembers on the distressed vessel and took them ashore safely.

The remaining crewmembers were saved by naval commandos and local fishermen.

The People’s Army Newspaper would like to introduce some images of the helicopter performing its rescue mission.
