At the seminar, both sides confirmed that young border guard officers of Vietnam and Laos have closely coordinated, contributing to the maintenance of security and order in border areas. They have regularly shared information, conducted joint patrols, observed the agreement on border and border gate management with 227 joint patrols since 2024.

Vietnamese and Lao young border guards successfully cooperated to destroy cases related to drug trafficking and illegal use of weapons. They have also shared experience and solutions to promote the effectiveness of border protection coordination.

Addressing the event, Col. Hai and Col. Daokay Lertlyvanh highly valued contribution by the two countries’ young officers. They emphasized their vanguard role and creativity in upholding peace, friendship between the two countries and border protection forces.

Both officers stressed that young officers should continue to embrace the two countries’ leaders’ guidelines, share experience, closely team with each other in exchanges, patrols, crime prevention and control. They should also give suggestions on visits, cultural and sport exchanges, twinning activities, and especially the fight against hostile forces’ acts of sabotaging the two countries’ relations, using religion and religious issues.

The seminar was among activities of the ongoing fourth Vietnamese-Lao young border guard officer exchange, taking place from March 20-24 in Quang Binh province. Within the program, participants will engage in a law dissemination program, scholarship granting, friendship tree planting, cultural and sport exchanges and tribute-paying to General Vo Nguyen Giap at his tomb.
