Earlier, from November 28 to 29, the two naval ships of Vietnam and ships 526 and 551 of the Royal Thai Navy conducted the 48th annual joint patrol at the adjacent waters between the two countries.

During the joint patrol, ships performed Hello ASEAN, a saluting ceremony among naval ships of ASEAN countries, exchanged information, practiced hand flags and lamp signaling according to the International Code of Signals. They also held an exercise on search and rescue (SAR), and the implementation of the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES).

The 48th joint patrol, with six routes in a distance of 408 nautical miles, was part of the joint patrol and communication channel establishment mechanism between the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Royal Thai Navy signed on June 14, 1999 by their chiefs.

With thorough preparations and close coordination, the joint patrol was a success, contributing to maintaining security and order at the adjacent waters, creating conditions for people of the two countries to develop sea economy, and promoting the two navies’ cooperation, mutual understanding, and trust.
