In an interview given to the People’s Army Newspaper, Vice Admiral Dato’ Baharudin Wan Md Nor revealed that the theme of this year’s exercise is “Camaraderie and Coaction.” In a broader sense, this means that ASEAN navies need to work toward a common goal to ensure peace, stability, and an environment in which all nations can use the sea in a responsible manner.
The Malaysian vice admiral spoke highly of the engagement of the 016-Quang Trung, a powerful guided-missile frigate. According to him, the fact that the Vietnam People’s Navy honored all participants by deploying one of its most capable assets to this exercise demonstrated its competence and professionalism. He emphasized that the contribution and role of the Vietnam People’s Navy in ensuring the success of this exercise is of great importance.
