Royal Thai Navy ship visits Naval Region 5
PANO - A group of the Royal Thai Navy’s ships HTMS Rattanakosin (FSGM-441) and HTMS Khamrosin (ASW-531), led by Senior Colonel Papon Hanphaiboon, Deputy-Commander and Chief-of-Staff of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command of the Royal Thai Navy, on December 3 visited Naval Region 5 of the Vietnam People's Navy and exchanged with the Command of Naval Region 5 after concluding 38th Vietnam-Thailand joint maritime patrol.

Senior Colonel Nguyen Duy Ty, Commander of Naval Region 5 welcomed and work with the delegation of the Royal Thai Navy.
At the meeting, the leaders of the two sides affirmed that the 38th Vietnam-Thailand joint maritime patrol on their shared maritime border concluded successfully as planned. The joint patrol aims to promote coordination of the two sides and prevent illegal fishing activities of fishermen of each country as well as contributed to fighting smuggling, drug trafficking, illegal immigration, piracy and non-traditional security to ensure security and order at sea.
The patrol is also seen as a foundation for the two countries to further expand training cooperation, information sharing and experience exchange.
