The Narita center is closely linked with the IUHW Narita Hospital under the International University of Health and Welfare. The center comprises an elderly medical care facility, a special nursing home, outpatient rehabilitation, and home-based rehabilitation and care support. It is equipped with full medical specialties capable of handling age-related health issues, modern facilities with advanced technologies including ICT and care robots, and systems for vital-sign monitoring integrated with networks and sensors to ensure continuous updates and safety for patients. Its infrastructure is also designed to respond to possible future infectious diseases. The center’s medical personnel are highly trained, experienced, and capable of providing attentive, high-quality, and effective care.

During the visit, Gen. Chien emphasized that medical cooperation is one of the priority areas in strengthening and materializing the Vietnam - Japan comprehensive strategic partnership. He noted that the Vietnamese Government and Ministry of National Defense attach great importance to elderly healthcare because older people need care and protection, and are an important source in national construction and defense cause. He added that ensuring proper healthcare and policies for the elderly reflects profound humanistic values while helping promote their role, potential, expertise and wisdom in the country’s socio-economic, political, cultural development.
According to the Vietnamese defense leader, the Vietnamese military medical sector is implementing the project entitled “Building and development of rehabilitation and geriatric medicine.”

Expressing his impression and his appreciation for the center’s modern facilities, smart technologies, advanced equipment, and high-quality personnel, Gen. Chien hoped that the center would actively share its experience in infrastructure development, operation, and personnel training with Vietnamese military medical establishments, including Military Hospital 175, which is planning to establish a “Institute of rehabilitation and geriatric nursing.” He suggested the two sides closely coordinate in field surveys and expertise exchanges to deliver high-quality medical services and enhance elderly healthcare capacity, particularly for retired senior military officers and citizens.
Gen. Chien invited the center’s leadership to visit Vietnam to share experience and foster cooperation opportunities. He emphasized that the Vietnamese MND will create favorable conditions for the two side to effectively cooperate.
