A view of the workshop

On February 26, the hospital hosted a scientific workshop attended by representatives from Level 1 hospitals in the Unity Sector and military medical personnel from Pakistan, Mongolia, Ghana, and other units. Discussions focused on common medical issues within the sector and mission area, updates on global medical advancements, experience in malaria prevention and treatment, and stress management in the demanding peacekeeping environment.

The workshop also provided an opportunity for the Vietnamese medical personnel to share the 71-year tradition of the Vietnamese Doctors’ Day with international colleagues, promoting the image of Vietnamese physicians as dedicated, ethically grounded, and highly skilled professionals committed to peace and humanitarian service.

Representatives of Level 1 hospitals and partner units extended their congratulations to the Vietnamese military medical team on the occasion of the Vietnamese Doctors’ Day, acknowledging the hospital’s positive and effective contributions to professional operations and international coordination.

Dr. Keah Jeach from a Level 1 hospital in the sector praised the professional capacity and operational effectiveness of Vietnam’s L2FH, describing it as an excellent medical facility that has significantly supported healthcare services for U.N. personnel.

Dr. Kwabena A. Agyekum, representing medical staff from Level 1 Field Hospitals stationed in the sector, emphasized the indispensable role of Vietnam’s L2FH in Bentiu. He noted that all cases exceeding the treatment capacity of Level 1 facilities are referred there and expressed appreciation for its strong support in caring for peacekeeping forces.

Beyond professional activities, the hospital has actively strengthened cooperation with the local healthcare system. A recent delegation worked with the Unity State health authorities to assess the overall healthcare situation, particularly challenges related to infrastructure, staffing, and professional capacity.

The delegation also visited Bentiu General Hospital, the primary treatment facility for local residents. Hospital leaders conducted a comprehensive assessment, listened to reports on shortages of equipment and medical supplies, and visited patients receiving care.

Based on these exchanges, the two sides agreed on a long-term support plan focusing on enhanced training, medical knowledge transfer, improved emergency and surgical capacity, epidemic prevention, and the provision of essential medical supplies. On this occasion, the L2FH Rotation 7 donated seven boxes of essential medical materials to Bentiu General Hospital, reinforcing international solidarity and humanitarian responsibility.
