The appointment underscores the credibility and operational capacity of Vietnamese soldiers in carrying out their duties at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

This role affirms the image of Vietnamese blue berets as disciplined and humane, especially in complex humanitarian environments where protecting civilians and upholding ethical standards is vital amid troop adjustments and displacement.

The U.N. identifies SEA as a serious risk that erodes public trust in peacekeeping. In areas like Bentiu, where conflict and poverty converge, controlling personnel conduct is an "ethical red line" that must be upheld without exception.

As Chair, Major Tran Duc Tai recently presided over a comprehensive inspection of units in Bentiu. He pro-actively selected L2FH Rotation 7 as the first unit for evaluation, setting a benchmark for the process while demonstrating responsibility, leadership by example, and a commitment to transparency.

The inspection followed UNMISS standard criteria, covering command responsibility, internal oversight, and officer conduct. It assessed camp security, movement management, and engagement with local communities, IDPs, and civilian contractors, alongside training and risk control. High-risk factors often overlooked, such as civilian staff activities and areas beyond camp perimeters, were also subjected to detailed assessment.

For Vietnamese peacekeeping forces in general, and L2FH Rotation 7 in particular, SEA prevention and response have been prepared well before deployment. Personnel have been trained and certified by international experts on SEA, and continue to receive in-mission training, including periodic U.N. online courses held every six months, alongside regular internal education and briefings conducted on a monthly and quarterly basis.

Amidst persistent security, humanitarian, and civilian protection challenges in South Sudan, the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse has been identified by the U.N. as a core priority, directly tied to the credibility of peacekeeping missions.

Through this internal inspection, L2FH Rotation 7, together with U.N. peacekeeping forces in the sector, not only fulfilled their professional tasks, but also reaffirmed their pro-active role in upholding discipline, safeguarding human dignity, and building trust with local communities, thereby reinforcing the image of disciplined and humane blue-beret soldiers.
