Established on April 16, 1946, the military medical sector honorably received much attention from President Ho Chi Minh. During its journey of fighting and growth, generations of military doctors have always been proud of their contribution to the revolutionary cause, continually studying and following the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh, upholding revolutionary ethics and improving expertise, promoting solidarity and creativity to build a strong military medical sector, and contributing to the building of a revolutionary, regular, elite, and gradually-modernized military.

Honoring military doctors with the title “The People’s Doctor”

In his remarks, General Phan Van Giang applauded the achievements obtained by military doctors in general as well as doctors honored with the titles “The People’s Doctor” and “The Meritorious Doctor.” The defense minister underlined that over the past 70 years, generations of officers and soldiers in the military medical sector have upheld the glorious traditions of the Vietnam People’s Army, stayed united to overcome difficulties, and accomplished the tasks of providing healthcare for troops and people.

Gen. Giang stressed that in the time to come, military doctors should continue to implement the resolutions and directives of the Party, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense; build a strong military medical sector in terms of organization and expertise; and be ready to perform all assigned tasks. The sector should enhance political and ideological education for military doctors and select, train, and develop a contingent of military doctors with good medical professionalism and medical ethics to meet the requirements of building a modern military medical sector.
