Vietnamese frigate ready to take part in AMNEX-1 and IFR 2017
PANO - Frigate “012 - Ly Thai To” of the Vietnam People’s Navy finished a 780-nautical mile voyage and anchored at Chuk-Samet Port in the Kingdom of Thailand on Nov. 13. The Vietnamese frigate has been sent to join the first ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX-1) and the International Fleet Review 2017 (IFR 2017) on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Earlier, during its three-day voyage, the Vietnamese frigate conducted combat readiness exercises on board, checked weapons and equipment’s readiness, observed the surrounding areas while on the move and rechecked preparations for the AMNEX-1 and IFR 2017.
Apart from taking part in AMNEX-1 and IFR 2017 under the chair of Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, the Vietnamese naval ship will also join sideline activities such as a meeting for captains, sport competitions, a street parade and an ASEAN’s cuisine night.
The IFR 2017 has drawn the participation of 40 battleships and eight aircraft from the ASEAN and 11 other nations. Among them, 14 battleships, two seaplanes and three helicopters are from ASEAN’s member countries. Notably, the host Thailand sent two battleships, a seaplane and two helicopters to the event.
