Vietnamese and Malaysian navies enhance friendship activities
PANO - On February 3 in Lumut, Malaysia, a working delegation of the Vietnam People’s Navy aboard Ship 17 of Brigade 171, Naval Region 2, led by Senior Captain Le Dinh Nghi, Deputy Chief of Staff of Naval Region 2, paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the Western Fleet of the Royal Malaysian Navy.

The delegation was received by Rear Admiral Ahmad Sapuan Fathi bin Hj Muhammad, Deputy Commander of the Western Fleet.
At the meeting, the head of the Vietnamese delegation expressed his sincere thanks to the Western Fleet command for their support and favorable conditions for the visit of Ship 17, as well as for the warm and thoughtful reception extended by officers and sailors of the Royal Malaysian Navy to the Vietnamese delegation.
He voiced his hope and confidence that the exchange activities during this visit would further enhance mutual understanding and trust between the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Royal Malaysian Navy, thereby promoting the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two navies in a deeper, more effective, and sustainable manner.
Welcoming Ship 17 and the Vietnam People’s Navy delegation to Lumut Naval Base, Rear Admiral Ahmad Sapuan Fathi bin Hj Muhammad noted that the visit would make important contribution to strengthening the friendly ties between the two navies. He also stated that in the coming time, he would advise higher authorities to further expand exchange and coordination activities with the Vietnam People’s Navy for peace and shared development in the region.

On the same morning, the Vietnam People’s Navy delegation took part in a friendly volleyball match with officers and sailors of Lumut Naval Base. Within the framework of the visit, officers and sailors of Ship 17 and members of the delegation also visited several scenic and cultural sites in the area.
