Ship 17 departs for MILAN 2026 and friendly visit to Malaysia
PANO - On January 28, at Phuoc Thang ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Ship 17 of Brigade 171, Naval Region 2, with a delegation of the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) led by Senior Captain Le Dinh Nghi, Deputy Chief of Staff of Naval Region 2, aboard, started its journey to participate in the Multilateral Naval Exercise (MILAN) 2026 in India and for a friendly visit to Malaysia.
As planned, the VPN delegation will pay courtesy calls on the leadership of the Western Fleet Command and the Command of Lumut Naval Base of the Royal Malaysian Navy; host a reception onboard Ship 17; have sports exchanges; and visit several landmarks and scenic sites in Malaysia.

While taking part in MILAN 2026 in India’s Visakhapatnam city, Ship 17 and the VPN delegation will engage in such activities as international fleet review, cultural exchanges, opening ceremony of MILAN 2026, international maritime seminar, sea planning conference, exchanges of expertise, street parade, and live sea exercises.

Before departing for MILAN 2026 in India and friendly visit to Malaysia, the Naval Region 2 Command organized a meeting on task grasping and assignment. Participants were provided with regulations regarding defense diplomacy, safety assurance measures, and standards during the task performance.

The participation in the MILAN 2026 in India and courtesy visit activities with the Royal Malaysian Navy aim to further enhance coordination and interoperability in responding to common maritime security challenges, while strengthening relations, cooperation, mutual understanding, and trust among the militaries and navies of participating countries, contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.
