In a region prone to conflict, where essential infrastructure is critical, the Engineering Company Rotation 4 has demonstrated its capabilities not only through technical expertise, but also through the resilience and unwavering spirit of its blue-beret soldiers. This strong determination has enabled them to overcome challenges quickly and deliver vital infrastructure.

During the meeting, Minister Kon Maneit Matiok warmly welcomed the Vietnamese peacekeepers. He said, “In just over a month, Vietnam’s engineering team has not only repaired roads serving the base, but also directly addressed urgent needs of the local population.”

He highlighted that the difference felt by the community is not only in the smooth roads, but in the dedication and commitment of the Vietnamese soldiers. The local authorities have highly praised the company for not only meeting the United Nations standards, but also serving as “ambassadors of humanity” in Abyei through practical actions. The troops have shown technical skills as well as provided clean water, basic necessities, food supplies, and even books and school supplies for underprivileged children.

This close engagement has created a positive image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers as trusted, caring partners. Minister Kon Maneit Matiok affirmed, “Every drop of clean water, every small gift given by the Vietnamese soldiers builds trust step by step. Your contributions are shown not only in your technical skills, but also in genuine care for the people of Abyei.”

During the visit, the local representatives heard the unit’s leadership share the initial challenges and opportunities encountered. Lt. Col. Trinh Van Cuong stated, “Our motto is ‘Work with the heart, build with the mind.’ Every engineering project we undertake is aimed at best serving the peacekeeping mission and the local community. This is not just a duty, but a humanitarian tradition of the Vietnam People’s Army.”
