Vietnam, Russia seek to expand naval cooperation
PANO - The Vietnam People’s Navy and the Russian Navy have organized the sixth joint working session on naval cooperation in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The Vietnamese mission was led by Rear Admiral Hoang Hong Ha, Deputy Commander of the Vietnam People’s Navy while the Russian side was headed by Rear Admiral Zemckov Vladimir Ivanovich, Vice Chief of Staff of the Russian Navy. At the meeting, both sides reviewed their cooperation this year, particularly in exchanges of their senior officers, personnel training, and joint drills.
Next year, the two services will further expand their existing cooperation fields such as delegation exchanges and joint exercises. Additionally, the Russian Navy pledged to support the Vietnam People’s Navy in some key naval areas and send its contingents to join international events to be hosted by the Vietnam People’s Navy.
The seventh joint working session is expected to take place in Vietnam in the fourth quarter of 2020.
