An overview of the working session at Military Region 2

At the meeting, Military Region 2 Political Commissar Lieutenant General Pham Duc Duyen briefed the Lao guest on the region’s situation, highlighting ongoing cooperation between units of the Military Region 2 Command and the Lao People’s Army (LPA) stationed in border areas. Key activities include delegation exchanges, personnel training, maintenance of weapons and equipment, search and collection of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors fallen during wartime in Laos, village cluster building and development, and defense and security consolidation in border areas.

Lt. Gen. Vongsone highly praised the new development and practical and effective outcomes of the collaboration between Military Region 2 and the LPA’s units, saying that they have contributed to fostering the Vietnam - Laos great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation.

In the afternoon the same day, the Lao general and his entourage visited Division 316 under Military Region 2. The Lao delegation was briefed on the unit’s 74-year traditions, including over 13 years of conducting international mission in northern Lao provinces and its outstanding feats-of-arms, helping foster the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

Division 316’s leader also shared experience in implementing political and ideological work, including improving the quality of political and ideological education, building healthy and strong Party organizations, training young officers, conducting mass mobilization work, and ensuring material and spiritual life and a healthy cultural environment for troops.

During the visits to Regiment 98 and its affiliate Battalion 8, the Lao delegation was briefed on their training outcomes, combat readiness observance, and troops’ living conditions. They encouraged Vietnamese troops to uphold traditions and excellently complete all assignments.

Lt. Gen. Vongsone Inpanphim highly appreciated Division 316’s attainments and experience and the unit’s partnership with the LPA’s Infantry Division 2.
