Vietnamese frigate joins fleet review marking Day of Russian Navy
PANO –The Vietnam People’s Navy’s frigate 016-Quang Trung, captained by Naval Captain Nguyen Van Ngan, Deputy Chief of the Staff of Naval Region 4, participated in an international fleet review held by the Russian Navy in the Russian city of Vladivostok in celebration of the 323rd founding anniversary of the Russian Navy on July 28.
Apart from the fleet review in Vladivostok city with the presence of Vietnamese ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh and Vietnamese Consul General in the city Nguyen Hoang Viet, other ceremonies to mark the Russian Navy’s Day were held at the same time in six Russian port cities.
Fourteen units, 12 fighters, 35 warships and submarines of the Russian Navy and two invited ships, frigate 016-Quang Trung of Vietnam and vessel Davao del Sur (LD-602) of the Philippines, joined the fleet review in Vodnaya port.
Participating units recaptured the formation and development of the Russian Navy in general and of the Pacific Fleet in particular.
At the opening ceremony, Russia’s anti-terrorism task force, marine, and other forces related to law enforcement at sea, search and rescue under the Pacific Fleet demonstrated their latest commissioned weapons and technical equipment in line with combat scenarios.
Artistic acts in praise of the tradition of the Russian military and navy were performed at the meeting.
Addressing the fleet review, Far Eastern Mayor Kojemyako Oleg Nikolaevich congratulated war veterans, officers and sailors of the Russian Navy and of the Pacific Fleet on the Day of the Russian Navy. He acknowledged the Russian Navy’s contribution to the peaceful life and happiness of the Russian people as well as to peace and stability in the region and the world.
After sailing over 2,300 nautical miles, the 016-Quang Trung has become the first Vietnamese ship taking part in a fleet review on the Day of the Russian Navy. The participation of the Vietnamese ship in the event has promoted the flourishing friendship and cooperation between the two militaries and navies, thereby contributing to boosting Vietnam-Russia’s traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership.
