After the welcoming ceremony hosted by Vice Admiral Pham Hoai Nam, Chief of the Vietnam People’s Navy, the two sides had talks.

At the talks, Vice Admiral Nam underlined that the sound traditional relations between Vietnam and Japan has paved the way for the two naval forces to strongly beef up their friendship as today.

Both sides took this occasion to exchange a number of cooperation contents which had previously been signed.

For his part, Admiral Hiroshi thanked the commander of the Vietnam People’s Navy for the warm reception. This is his first overseas visit and first visit to Vietnam in his capacity as the JMSDF Chief of Staff.

He expressed his thanks to the Vietnam People’s Navy for creating favorable conditions for Japanese vessels and aircraft during their visits to Vietnam.

On this occasion, the JMSDF sent two ships to Da Nang city for a joint program.

The Japanese admiral wished that the Vietnam People’s Navy would successfully host external defense relations activities when Vietnam takes the ASEAN Chair in 2020, and Japan would send ships and delegations to attend these events.

During his stay in Vietnam, Admiral Hiroshi will tour several landscapes and historical sites in Hai Phong city, Quang Ninh province, Hanoi, Da Nang city, and Quang Nam province, and then attend a seminar co-organized by the Vietnam People’s Navy and the JMSDF.
