Vietnam enhances digital capabilities for peacekeepers

The event was held within the framework of Canada’s Military Training and Cooperation Program (MTCP).

VNDPKO's Deputy Director Senior Colonel Nguyen Ba Hung noted that digital capability has become a mandatory requirement for many positions held by Vietnamese forces at U.N. missions. Stemming from practical needs, the department is actively preparing sources and nominating candidates for U.N. specialized positions, such as communications officers and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators, showing determination to master new capabilities and meet the increasingly high demands of U.N. peacekeeping operations.

Speaking at the workshop, Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Jim Nickel affirmed that Canada would continue to accompany Vietnam in implementing the National Action Program on Women, Peace, and Security for the 2024-2030 period.

Furthermore, Canada will promote cooperation through the MTCP with the U.N. Women and the U.N. Development Program (UNDP) to enhance women’s leadership, civilian protection, humanitarian assistance, mine action, and military medicine, as well as to improve the mission readiness of peacekeeping forces.
