At the event, Gen. Chien said that on the basis of the traditional friendship and political trust between the two countries, the Vietnam - China defense cooperation has continued to be an important pillar in the bilateral relations and has been carried out effectively and practically.

The Vietnamese deputy defense chief laid stress on the land border cooperation which has been strengthened, particularly the enhancement of cooperation in border management and protection, the new opening and upgrading of border gates, and the increase in tourism and trade ties.

He also highlighted regular exchanges, twinning activities and joint patrols between the two sides’ border protection forces, between units stationed along the border, contributing to building the Vietnam-China land border of peace, stability and development.

Gen. Chien suggested the two sides continue to embrace the common perception of the two countries’ senior leaders and signed cooperation documents and minutes. In addition, both sides should further border friendship exchanges such as young officer exchange, and exchange in political work between the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the Chinese National Immigration Administration.

For his part, Wang Ben emphasized that the Vietnam-China border has continued to be stable, peaceful and developing. Attentively, the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the Chinese National Immigration Administration have well realized the common perception of the two countries’ senior leaders.

The Chinese official expressed his hope to contribute more to the development of the countries’ relations and of the two sides’ border management and protection forces.
