U.K. Royal Navy ship starts friendly visit to Ho Chi Minh City
PANO - On September 22 afternoon, the HMS Richmond of the Royal Navy of the U.K., with 185 officers and sailors on board, docked at Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi International Port in Ho Chi Minh City, beginning its four-day friendly visit to the city.

A welcome ceremony for the Royal Navy delegation was held right at the port with the participation of representatives from the Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of National Defense, the Naval Region 2 Command, the Military Region 7 Command, leaders of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, and the British Ambassador to Vietnam.
The visit of the HMS Richmond, led by Commander Richard Kemp, takes place at the time that the U.K. and Vietnam are celebrating the 15th anniversary of their strategic partnership, reflecting the commitment to strengthening bilateral diplomatic ties, particularly in security and defense cooperation which has been increasingly consolidated and developed.
This visit not only enhances cooperation between the Royal Navy and Vietnamese partners but also reaffirms the U.K.’s continued commitment to promoting stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region.

During their stay in Ho Chi Minh City, the crew-members will pay courtesy calls on leaders of the city, the Military Region 7 and Naval Region 2 Commands. They will take part in various cultural and sports exchanges with their peers from the Vietnam People’s Navy and explore some local cultural, historical sites and landmarks.
