Military official receives Cambodian chief of chemical weapons authority
PANO - Deputy Chief of the General Staff Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan received General Phorn Nara, Chief of Cambodia’s National Authority for Chemical Weapons on December 23 at the Headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense.
General Phorn Nara’s visit and working session were part of the cooperation plan between the Ministries of National Defense of Vietnam and Cambodia in 2025.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese military official noted that in recent years, Vietnam - Cambodia military and defense cooperation has achieved many positive results. Notable areas include exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high level ones; the effective maintenance of dialogue and consultation mechanisms; education and training; border management and protection; friendship exchanges and twinning activities; education and communication on bilateral relations; the search for, recovery and repatriation of the remains of fallen soldiers; and coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums.
He affirmed that the second Vietnam - Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange, successfully held in November, contributed to promoting substantive and effective cooperation between the militaries, local authorities and people in border areas, helping build a border of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation, and development.
For his part, General Phorn Nara congratulated Vietnam on its achievements across various fields and conveyed greetings from General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Cambodia, to Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang. He also briefed Sr. Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan on the outcomes of his earlier working session with the Chemical Corps.

Emphasizing the important role of the chemical sector for each country’s military and expressing appreciation for the results of the working session, General Tan proposed that the two sides further enhance delegation exchanges, share professional experience, and closely coordinate in providing effective advice for the leadership of the two defense ministries in their respective specialized fields.
He affirmed that the leadership of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army consistently supports and creates all favorable conditions for the Chemical Corps and Cambodia’s National Authority for Chemical Weapons to strengthen cooperation, thereby further deepening the relations between the two militaries.
