Vietnam Coast Guard delegation visits Indonesia
PANO – On August 21, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command held a see-off ceremony for Coast Guard Ship 8001 and a delegation of the Vietnam Coast Guard to visit, have exchanges, and conduct joint drills with the Indonesia Coast Guard.
According to Commander of Coast Guard Region 3 Major General Ngo Binh Minh, this is the first visit by a Vietnam Coast Guard ship to Indonesia in 2025, demonstrating the determination and goodwill of both forces to enhance cooperation, traditional friendship, and strengthen mutual trust and understanding.
Most recently, in October 2024, Patrol Vessel KN Pulau Dana 323 from the Indonesian Coast Guard visited and had exchange with Vietnamese coast guard officers and soldiers in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau (now Ho Chi Minh City).
As scheduled, the delegation, led by Senior Colonel Nguyen Tran Dong, Deputy Commander of Coast Guard Region 3, will pay courtesy calls on leaders of the local government and the Indonesia Coast Guard; hold a bilateral meeting and sport exchanges with the Indonesia Coast Guard; and tour cultural attractions in Jakarta.
Notably, a joint maritime exercise between the two forces will be conducted. The visit is expected to enhance operational cooperation in addressing maritime challenges, paving the way for more practical and effective coordination between the Indonesian and Vietnamese coast guard forces.
