Vice Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem, Commander of the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN), along with naval commanders and heads of delegations from ASEAN countries observed the review from the grandstand at Swettenham Pier.

This year’s AFR featured 10 warships, including seven ships from Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam and three ships from the host Malaysia.

Frigate 016-Quang Trung from Brigade 162, Naval Region 4 Command, with a working delegation of the VPN led by Deputy Commander of Naval Region 4 Senior Captain Nguyen Vinh Nam, participated in this fleet review.

After the opening ceremony, participating ships maneuvered in column formation past the grandstand. As they passed, officers and sailors stood on deck, performed the ceremonial salute, shouted greetings in unison, and waved to the reviewing stand.

The active and responsible participation of the 016-Quang Trung and the Vietnamese delegation in this AFR reaffirmed the support of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the Vietnam People’s Navy for activities hosted by the Royal Malaysian Navy. It also contributed to strengthening relations, cooperation, mutual understanding, and trust among the navies of participating countries, for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
