Praising the capabilities of Vietnam’s defense industry, Major General Leang Sovannara, Cambodian Defense Attaché to Vietnam, expressed his admiration for both the organization of the event and the quality of the products on display. He said, “I have attended two major exhibitions recently in Vietnam, the Vietnam Defense Expo in 2024 and the Exhibition on National Achievements. Both are large-scale events featuring thousands of pieces of equipment, weapons, and new technologies across various fields. What impressed me most at the MND’s space is the thorough preparation and the large display area showcasing modern equipment, weapons, and technologies.”

According to the Cambodian Defense Attaché, Vietnam has made rapid strides inp defense industry. Over the past 80 years since the Independence Day, the country has seen remarkable development in military equipment, infrastructure, and production technologies for defense products.

Major General Leang Sovannara emphasized that the exhibits not only honor the glorious history of the Vietnam People’s Army, but also affirm Vietnam’s growing reputation and standing on the international stage. He expressed confidence that, in the near future, Vietnam would continue to introduce even more advanced and impressive equipment, weapons, and technologies.

For Colonel S. Muthukrishnan, Indian Defense Attaché to Vietnam, the Vietnamese MND’s booth was among the most striking displays at the exhibition. He also noted that the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) showcased 50 civil and military technology products at the event. The Indian Defense Attaché observed that Viettel’s products have already embraced some of the world’s latest technologies.

“The exhibition space is vast and truly impressive. The displayed products and technologies, such as unmanned aerial vehicles and robotic service dogs, demonstrate that Vietnam places great importance to developing its defense industry. I believe Vietnam and India have significant potential to enhance cooperation in this field,” Colonel S. Muthukrishnan stated.

He added that the Exhibition on National Achievements provides an excellent opportunity to explore, exchange, and promote collaboration in defense industry. Currently, Vietnam and India have established defense and security cooperation in many areas, notably cooperation among different services and arms. Looking ahead, the two countries could consider expanding cooperation in missile technology, long-range artillery systems, and shipbuilding.

“I think both sides have great potential in maritime security, which plays an extremely important role in today’s context,” he noted.

Meanwhile, for many international visitors, witnessing Vietnam’s modern military equipment and technology firsthand was an unforgettable experience. Hwang Sungkeun from the Republic of Korea, who is currently teaching the Korean language in Hanoi, shared that he learned about the exhibition through the media and immediately invited a friend to join him on the opening day.

Although he had visited other exhibitions in Vietnam before, he said this was the largest he had ever attended. He was deeply impressed by the display of Vietnam’s weapons, technical equipment, and defense industry products, and believed the exhibition offered foreign visitors like him a better understanding of the capabilities of the Vietnamese armed forces.
