During the meeting, Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez highly appreciated General Nguyen Tan Cuong’s official visit and the presence of the high-ranking VPA delegation, affirming that it would contribute to deepening the special relationship between the two countries and their armed forces.

The Cuban President emphasized that the Party, State, and people of Cuba always value their traditional, special, and faithful friendship with Vietnam, and will continue to stand in solidarity with the country in its process of national construction and development.
He expressed hope that the two militaries would continue to carry forward the traditional friendship cultivated by Presidents Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh and generations of leaders from both sides. He also pledged to prioritize and facilitate the deepening of bilateral defense cooperation in a more substantive and effective manner.
For his part, General Nguyen Tan Cuong thanked the Cuban leader for the warm welcome, stressing that the visit aimed to implement the directions of the two countries’ leaders regarding defense cooperation. The visit was of special significance as Vietnam and Cuba are preparing to celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960–2025) and the Vietnam–Cuba Friendship Year.
The Vietnamese General congratulated Cuba on its achievements in implementing the resolutions of the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, led by First Secretary and President Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the Cuban people would overcome current challenges and attain further progress in national development.
General Cuong also briefed the Cuban President on the outcomes of his recent bilateral talks with the Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces. The two sides agreed on multiple measures to strengthen cooperation, particularly in delegation exchanges and twinning activities, training and education, defense industry and military technical collaboration, as well as Party and political affairs.
He expressed hope that President Díaz-Canel would continue to support the effective implementation of agreements reached during the visit and help expand the strengths of defense cooperation into other areas, thereby fostering mutual benefits and enhancing both countries’ national defense and security. Additionally, he called for Cuba’s support in creating favorable policies for Vietnamese enterprises, including military businesses, to invest and operate in Cuba.
