The Vietnamese general expressed his warm feelings upon visiting heroic and hospitable Cuba, and conveyed his sincere gratitude to the Cuban Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces for the heartfelt friendship and solemn reception. He expressed delight at the continued development of the special, time-tested Vietnam–Cuba friendship, which was founded by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro, and has been nurtured over the past 65 years by generations of leaders of both parties, states, and peoples.

The Cuban general expressed his belief that the Vietnamese delegation’s activities in Cuba would leave a lasting impression on the country and its people, contributing to the strengthening of the traditional solidarity, special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations and their armed forces.
At El Cacahual Mausoleum, Gen. Cuong and his delegation laid a wreath in tribute to General Antonio Maceo, a hero of Cuba’s struggle for independence and a major influence on Latin American liberation movements.

Following the official welcome, Gen. Cuong and the Vietnamese delegation visited Armored Division 1011 of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces.
The Vietnamese head delegate expressed appreciation to the Division’s commanding officer, officers, and soldiers for their warm reception and the spirit of close comradeship and brotherhood. He noted his impression with the unit’s proud traditions and its sustained growth in organization and strength over six decades (1965–2025).

Gen. Cuong emphasized that, in the context of increasingly complex global developments, it is more important than ever for the two countries and their militaries to reinforce their relations and enhance cooperation to safeguard revolutionary achievements and firmly pursue the paths chosen by their respective nations. He also noted that Armored Division 1011 holds significant potential for fostering cooperation with units of the Vietnam People’s Army.
Gen. Cuong expressed his belief that the Cuban division would continue to uphold its traditions, enhance training quality and combat readiness, and successfully accomplish all tasks assigned by the Cuban Party, State, people, and armed forces.
He signed the unit’s guestbook and presented gifts to the troops.
