The visit is made at the invitation of the Chinese side, demonstrating the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense (MND) support to China-hosted multilateral events.

It also aims to realize the directions of the Central Military Commission and MND leadership on international integration and defense diplomacy and contribute to promoting the friendship and fruitful cooperation between the military and navy of Vietnam and their counterparts from China in particular, and from countries participating in the exercise in general, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

During the long-day voyage, Vietnamese naval troops will conduct training sessions to improve coordination capability, combat readiness ability, and mastery of assigned weapons and equipment, accumulate experience in international events, and grasp situations in the waters the frigate crosses.

As scheduled, in China, the 016-Quang Trung will engage in such activities as ship control simulation training; protection of ship’s vitality; discussion on giving first aid to wounded soldiers; practice of operating helicopter deck equipment, anti-piracy, search and rescue; table-top exercise; and cultural, sports, and culinary exchanges. The field exercise at sea will have contents of communication, maneuvering in formation, anchorage guard, and anti-piracy.

In the exercise, Rear Admiral Nguyen Viet Khanh, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Naval Service, will act as the vice general director of the exercise; Senior Captain Do Minh, Second-in-Command of Naval Region 4, will participate in activities of the Joint Command Post of the Exercise.

After the exercise, the Vietnamese frigate and Vietnamese delegation will pay a friendly visit to Hong Kong (China).

Earlier, on November 7, the Vietnamese delegation offered incense at the Memorial House dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap at Brigade 162 and the Monument for Fallen Cam Ranh Political Prisoners.
