During the event, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien congratulated Aleksander Surdej on his appointment as the Ambassador of Poland to Vietnam. He affirmed that defense cooperation between Vietnam and Poland has developed practically and effectively in various areas such as human resource training and defense industry. Both sides have also established defense attaché offices in each country, which serve to promote bilateral defense cooperation.

Senior Lieutenant General Chien hoped that in the future, Ambassador Aleksander Surdej would work with the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to further advance key cooperation areas. This includes exchanging delegations, enhancing defense cooperation mechanisms, promoting interactions among defense enterprises, and the participation in the Vietnam International Defense Expo in 2024. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of continuous support for collaborative initiatives between Vietnam and the European Union in the defense sector. The Vietnamese Deputy Defense assured that Ambassador Aleksander Surdej would actively contribute to enhancing the overall Vietnam-Poland relations, particularly in defense cooperation, with the goal of promoting peace, stability, cooperation, and mutual development in the region and the world.

On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, on behalf of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, invited the Minister and leaders of the Polish Ministry of Defense to participate in the Vietnam International Defense Expo in 2024. He proposed that both sides sign a new Memorandum of Understanding on defense cooperation to update new contents of mutual interest and continue to enhance cooperation in training. Senior Lieutenant General Chien thanked Poland for providing scholarships in technical, air force, and navy fields for Vietnamese officers. He hoped that Poland would assist Vietnam in cybersecurity and military medicine training. He also mentioned that the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam is ready to welcome Polish students to learn Vietnamese at the Military Science Academy.

For his part, Ambassador Aleksander Surdej highly appreciated defense cooperation relationship with Vietnam and requested the Vietnamese Ministry of National to continue providing favorable conditions for the Polish Defense Attaché to fulfill his duties during the term in Vietnam. Ambassador Surdej emphasized that Poland is ready to support Vietnam in training students at military schools in Poland. In U.N. peacekeeping operations, Poland has a lot of experience and is willing to exchange and share experience with Vietnam. Ambassador Surdej affirmed that during his term, he will make every effort to contribute to the further development of defense cooperation between the two countries.
