Together with mutual trust and respect through numerous years of close cooperation, this is an important step in the Poland-Vietnam ties,” said Mr. Grzegorz Piechowiak, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Poland.

Despite of geographically distant, Vietnam and Poland have developed close socio-economic ties at various levels over the past several decades. New areas of cooperation have also witnessed great potential for development, especially in trade and industrial development.

In particular, cooperation fields related to weapons and new technologies for defense and security are very important, giving manufacturers and suppliers from Poland more opportunities to supply to their most important partners. That is the reason for Poland's presence and offers at the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2022.

Along with the strong recovery in the exchange of goods and services between Vietnam and Poland, the bilateral economic relations have taken a completely new direction in recent years, especially since the E.U.-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) was signed in 2019.

Both countries’ dynamism and high economic growth offer specific potentials to meet unique trade needs. Vietnam is Poland's largest trading partner in Southeast Asia with the total two-way trade value exceeding USD 4.6 billion in 2021. The Vietnamese community in Poland is well organized, friendly and highly regarded. Statistically, about 30,000 people of Vietnamese origin live and conduct economic activities mainly in the vicinity of Warsaw, becoming a natural socio-cultural bridge between the two countries.

All of these factors help form a suitable reference point for expanding the scope of the Polish-Vietnamese commercial cooperation, especially as its structure has undergone dynamic transformation. Furthermore, both economies are growing rapidly, entering new areas with more advanced technologies. In Poland, the fields of weapon production and aerospace technology is becoming increasingly important, especially for the national economy.

The defense industry cooperation is also an area that can be fostered significantly to contribute to the commercial cooperation between Poland and Vietnam. Poland's concrete achievements in the new defense technologies are proved in the real battlefield conditions and are increasingly recognized by customers around the globe. Among them are self-propelled artilleries, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), anti-UAV defense system and man-portable air-defense systems, optoelectronics, infrared thermography and firearms.

Another important advantage of Polish defense products that Vietnam can appreciate is the cost-effectiveness ratio, with high reliability, affordable prices and low maintenance costs. Especially, many of these products have been tested in real battlefield conditions and continuously developed on the basis of experience gained in the field.

Poland’s solutions provide opportunities to expand cooperation in other industrial sectors and technological transfer. All of these opportunities are potential common interests. Vietnam can buy and use Polish defense products and aerospace technologies. This is a very promising factor to maintain close commercial relations and build long-term sustainable relationships in the new technology field.

At the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2022, the Polish pavilion (No.A148, hall A) is co-organized by the Polish Ministry of Economic Development and Technology and the Polish Embassy in Hanoi. A separate booth of WB Electronics SA, one of Poland's leading companies in the field of advanced technology, and Lubawa SA, a manufacturer of tents, helmets, bulletproof vest, will be organized at the Expo. Polish defense corporations; the Przemysłowy Instytut Automatyki i Pomiarów (PIAP), a scientific institute majoring in automation and robotics; and the Defence24 portal are also interested in the Vietnamese defense Expo. Notably, PIAP will have offers to successfully export the robot to the Asian market.
