Vietnam’s Defense Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich

PANO – On May 23rd, Vietnam’s Defense Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich, left Vietnam for the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (LPDR) for an official visit at the invitation of his Lao counterpart, Senior Lieutenant General Chansmone Chanyalat. He will also attend the 10th ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM-10) from May 23rd to 26th.

General Lich’s visit to the LPDR represents the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos and strengthens  the special relationship between the two peoples and armies.

That General Lich takes part in ADMM-10 shows Vietnam’s active role and responsibility in ADMM cooperation. His participation also helps protect national interests and to implement Vietnamese initiatives in ASEAN defense cooperation.

The participation of Vietnam’s high-ranking military delegation in ADMM-10 will affirm Vietnam’s role and position in the region and the world via multilateral forums. This will help boost efforts to maintain peace, stability, and development in the region.

That General Lich and his delegation are taking part in ADMM-10 shows Vietnam's support for Laos as the chair of ASEAN this year.
