At the meeting, Gen. Giang expressed his belief that the Vietnam visit of the Cambodian general will be a success, creating a strong momentum for future defense-military cooperation activities of the two countries.
The Vietnamese defense chief congratulated Cambodia and the Cambodian People’s Party on their important achievements in internal and external affairs, especially the successful organization of the seventh National Assembly election in July this year. He believed that under the leadership of the Cambodian government and Prime Minister Hun Manet, Cambodia will reap greater gains in the coming time, thus improving the country’s position and role in the international arena.
Gen. Giang confirmed that Vietnam and Cambodia are neighbors with fruitful time-honored friendship. Vietnam always attaches importance to, constantly strengthens and develops the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability with Cambodia.
He highly praised the outcomes of the earlier talks between Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong and General Vong Pisen.

Speaking highly of the attainments in bilateral defense cooperation over the past time, the Vietnamese defense minister applauded the two sides’ agencies and units for their extensive, intensive and effective coordination in different fields, such as personnel training, sharing of experience, border protection, mutual support in forums and multilateral mechanisms, particularly ASEAN-led ones.
He hailed the militaries of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia for their close collaboration and preparation for the first Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia defense friendship exchange at the defense ministerial level and hoped that they will exert utmost efforts to successfully implement future common activities.
The host expressed his hope that the two sides will maintain their cooperation momentum, find new, practical and effective implementation ways, helping raise the role and position of the bilateral defense ties in the general relationship of the two countries, and contributing to upholding political security, creating conditions for each country’s socio-economic development and building and safeguarding of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense always supports and creates most favorable conditions for the two militaries to tighten their cooperation, Gen. Giang stressed.
Given that Vietnam will celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and host the second Vietnam International Defense Expo next year, the defense chief, on behalf of the Vietnamese ministry and military, invited the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to attend these vital events.
For his part, Gen. Vong Pisen sent deep thanks to the Party, State, military, and people of Vietnam for their great support to Cambodia, particularly in the fight against foreign invaders, in the struggle against the Pol Pot genocidal regime, in the recovery of socio-economic infrastructure in the past and the current national socio-economic development.
Impressed with events hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, the Cambodian general emphasized that the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces will keep backing activities organized by Vietnam in the time to come.
