At the meeting, Gen. Thang emphasized that Vietnam highly values Poland’s effective support during Vietnam’s past struggle for national liberation and its subsequent national development efforts. He added that the upgrade of bilateral relations to a strategic partnership in January 2025 created new momentum for deepening cooperation across various fields, including defense.
The Vietnamese defense leader assessed that over the past time, bilateral defense cooperation has been implemented effectively in such areas as delegation exchanges, training, and defense industry, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral defense cooperation signed in 2010.
For her part, Ms. Joanna Skoczek highly appreciated Poland - Vietnam relations and bilateral defense cooperation. She thanked the functional agencies of Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) for their support, coordination, and active participation in diplomatic events organized by the Embassy of Poland in Vietnam.
Affirming that Poland - Vietnam defense ties still hold considerable potential, the Polish diplomat expressed her hope that both sides would continue to actively promote cooperation in a more effective and substantive manner, particularly in defense industry.

She invited leaders of the Vietnamese MND to attend the International Defense Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Poland this September.
The host suggested both sides continue to deepen practical and effective bilateral defense cooperation, centered on all-level delegation exchanges, particularly high-level ones, defense industry, training, United Nations peacekeeping operations; and war legacy remediation.
He hoped for Poland’s provision of training opportunities in several fields of interest. He affirmed that the Vietnamese MND stands ready to receive Polish military personnel for the International Defense Officials Course and Vietnamese-language training courses in Vietnam. In addition, the MND of Vietnam would continue to facilitate contacts between defense enterprises of the two countries, enabling them to introduce products and explore cooperation opportunities based on each side’s strengths and needs.
On this occasion, Gen. Thang invited leaders of the Polish Ministry of National Defense to attend the third Vietnam Defense Expo, scheduled for this December, and Polish defense enterprises and defense industry establishments to exhibit their products at the event.
* The same day, during the reception for Major General Zaw Min, Gen. Thang congratulated him on assuming his duties as Myanmar Military, Naval and Air Attaché to Vietnam. He believed that during his tenure, Major General Zaw Min would carry forward the achievements of his predecessor and make positive contributions to the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Myanmar and bilateral defense ties.

Gen. Thang spoke highly of the effective maintenance of bilateral defense cooperation, particularly in military medicine exchanges, language training, and search and rescue. He highly appreciated the effective coordination between the Myanmar Military, Naval and Air Attaché Office and the Department of Foreign Relations under the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense in implementing cooperation activities. In particular, both sides proactively and closely coordinated with Vietnamese relevant agencies to promptly complete procedures for deploying Vietnam’s rescue contingent, equipment and relief supplies to participate in rescue efforts following the earthquake in Myanmar in March 2025.
He suggested Vietnam and Myanmar continue to work closely together to effectively implement existing areas of defense cooperation in the time ahead.

For his part, Major General Zaw Min highly valued defense cooperation between the two countries and affirmed his commitment to working closely with relevant agencies of the Vietnamese MND to further promote bilateral defense ties.
He hoped that the MND of Vietnam would continue to create favorable conditions for him to fulfill his tenure.
