At the reception, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya delivered a speech affirming that cooperation between the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) has continued to develop steadily over recent years. The two militaries have implemented numerous important cooperative activities, including joint military training, disaster relief coordination, and humanitarian assistance.
According to the Ambassador, defense and military cooperation serves as an important pillar of bilateral relations. The year 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and Vietnam (1976–2026). Over the past five decades, bilateral relations have evolved from mutual understanding into a comprehensive and robust partnership.

Within this framework, defense cooperation and military diplomacy play a significant role in strengthening mutual trust, regional stability, and security. The two countries have maintained close cooperation across all three services: the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Speaking at the event, Major General Dinh Cong Phuong affirmed that Vietnam–Thailand defense and military cooperation has continued to receive strong attention from both sides and has achieved practical results. Leaders of the two defense ministries regularly exchange visits, while delegation exchanges at various levels, particularly at the high level, have been maintained, and cooperation mechanisms have become increasingly diverse. Cooperation among services and branches, as well as human resource training, has emerged as a notable highlight.

Major General Dinh Cong Phuong emphasized that the VPA stands ready to work closely with the Royal Thai Armed Forces to effectively implement the orientations set forth by the senior leaders of both countries on bilateral defense and military cooperation. He also called for further promotion of cooperation in areas with significant potential, such as addressing non-traditional security challenges, cybersecurity, transnational crime, maritime security and safety, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief.
