Viettel to provide IT solutions to Temor Leste
PANO - Telemor, the brand name of the Military-run Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) in Timor Leste, has signed two contracts, worth US$ 1 million, with the local government.

According to the deal with the country’s Ministry of Agriculture, Viettel will provide IT equipment and solutions to assist the country’s 2019 General Census from August to November.
The military group’s Telemor also signed a contract with the country’s Ministry of Communication – Transportation. In 2019, the business provides a cable network to connect 140 ministries and governmental agencies to help Timor Leste build an e-Government.
General Director of the Viettel International Investment Joint-Stock Company (Viettel Global) Do Manh Hung said that these are key projects which serve as a foundation for Timor Leste’s plan to build an e-Government.
According to the country’s Ministry of Agriculture, after the contract the unit will consider purchasing IT services and solutions of Telemor in other projects.
Officially starting its operation from 2013, Telemor has been one of the most successful branches of Viettel in foreign countries, generating profits for the group after four-year operation. 2018 marked an important year of Telemor as it was the first and only business in Timor Leste allowed to provide e-wallet services to help Timorese people easily access banking services.
