The activity is part of the technical test to evaluate the applicability of the Viettel’s technology to real life in Vietnam.

At the event, the data connection speed on terminal devices reached 1.5 – 1.7 Gbps, much higher than the designated speed of the 4G LTE network and equal to that of the optical cable network.

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung addresses the event.

Addressing the event, Major General Le Dang Dung, Acting Chairman and Director General of Viettel, affirmed that Viettel is confident to  embark on the path to mastery of modern technologies. He said, “the 5G call today serves as the start for the complete 5G network in the coming time. As for the 5G technology, Viettel is doing research and producing its own equipment. Countries in the world are engaging in the technological race via their research and development of the 5G technology. They keep it as their own know-how and do not transfer their 5G technologies. Though it is hard, we have found our  own way and have gained achievements. The pilot of the 5G coverage network has marked a milestone in the development of the technical staff of Viettel.”

Delegates press the buttons.

The call has made Vietnam one of the first countries in the world that have successfully tested the 5G technology. This is the first time that Vietnam has kept pace with the world in the path to the mastery and application of new technologies, gradually affirming the development of its technical staff.

Expressing joy over the initial achievements of Viettel in this field, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of Viettel.

In the coming time, Viettel will expand the pilot of its 5G network in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with the aim of gaining initial data for the overall evaluation of the 5G network, serving as the basis for putting the technology into commercial service in 2020.
