Hoang Duc Hieu, a Viettel technician in Le Thuy district, held that at 5a.m. the same day, the team used a boat to deliver fuel to telecommunications stations. While passing through a field in Mai Thuy commune, they heard cries for help and spotted a person clinging to an electric pole surrounded by floodwaters.
“Despite heavy rain, strong winds, and high waves, our team overcame difficulties to approach and rescue the victim,” said Hoang Duc Hieu.
The victim was Truong Van Duy, 58 years old, from Xuan Hoi village, Lien Thuy commune, Le Thuy district. His boat capsized at 5:30 p.m. on October 28. The team promptly brought Duy ashore, while staff of the Le Thuy district Power Company provided him with food and first aid.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Phi Long, Deputy Director of Viettel Quang Binh, affirmed, “Viettel Quang Binh directed its staff to strictly adhere to safety protocols during task performance and in response to natural disaster, always striving to support people with the highest sense of responsibility. The brave act of the Viettel team in Le Thuy district during the flood is highly valued. Viettel Quang Binh will provide timely encouragement and rewards.”
