In the flooded zone, where waters rose up to two meters and five hamlets with more than 1,000 households were isolated, rescue boats faced great difficulty navigating due to the lack of safe access routes. Viettel mobilized technical teams and high-tech drone systems to transport essential goods, guide rescue boats to affected locations, and help identify safe evacuation paths for local residents.

Viettel deploys drones to deliver relief supplies to residents stranded in isolated flood zones.

On October 8 and 9, Viettel’s drones carried out 200 supply sorties, transporting a total of five tons of relief goods, and conducted 30 other flights to assist rescue forces in finding the fastest routes to the most severely flooded areas.

In a particularly urgent case late at night on October 8, upon receiving a mayday call, Viettel’s team immediately launched a drone across the flooded zone to deliver medicine and essential supplies to a family with a four-month-old baby suffering from high fever and seizures.

The drones have a maximum range of 5 kilometers, an operating altitude of 100 meters, a payload capacity of up to 50 kilograms, and can operate continuously around the clock thanks to rapid charging and battery-swapping technology. Each flight takes only about five minutes to complete a delivery mission.

A Viettel representative stated that the use of drones in relief operations not only shortens time in reaching isolated residents but also demonstrates the group’s commitment to leveraging technology for the community’s benefit, especially during emergencies caused by natural disasters.
