Maj. Gen. Ngo Minh Thuan, Commander of Corps 20 and Chairman and General Director of Saigon Newport Corporation, reported that despite complex global and regional economic headwinds from 2021 to 2025, the corporation adapted flexibly. By maximizing internal resources, it stabilized operations and met core targets. Looking ahead to the 2026-2030 period, the company aims to retain its status as Viet Nam’s premier container port operator, rank among the world’s top 20 container port clusters by throughput, and position itself within Viet Nam’s top 5 logistics providers. Additionally, it targets a minimum annual revenue growth of 9% in line with the Ministry of National Defense’s quotas. The corporation plans to build a modern, closed-loop logistics ecosystem, accelerate digital transformation to cut costs and boost competitiveness, expand maritime operations, and deepen international integration.

Commending the corporation’s recent task performance, especially following the establishment of Corps 20, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Quang Ngoc highlighted its success in balancing economic development with national defense and security missions. The Deputy Defense Minister urged the corporation to meticulously review its business lines and press forward with streamlining efforts to maximize operational efficiency, expressing confidence that these restructuring moves would yield better business outcomes.

Gen. Ngoc also instructed the corporation to compile and forward its proposals to the relevant authorities for prompt resolution. He emphasized the need to cultivate high-quality personnel and groom successor cadres capable of handling routine and unexpected operations. Ultimately, he challenged the company to strive for sustainable double-digit growth, fulfill its revenue, profit, and state budget obligations, and improve the livelihoods of its employees.
