Song Thu Corporation lays keel for three military vessels
PANO - On March 7, Song Thu Corporation under the General Department of Defense Industry and the Naval Service held a keel laying ceremony for three military vessels.
Accordingly, the submarine rescue intervention vessel has a maximum length of 80.95m, maximum width of 16.4m, side height of 6.95m, and full load displacement of 3,520 tons.
The vessel is capable of withstanding waves of level-9 and winds of level-12. It has a maximum range of 4,000 nautical miles. The vessel is designed to be able to conduct search and rescue for submarines and surface ships, do survey, exploration, research, and study of seabed and do other tasks.
Two multi-purpose transport vessels are designed according to national technical regulations on ship safety equipment. The vessel is functioned to conduct rescue at sea and perform other tasks.

Delivering a speech at the event, Major General Pham Thanh Khiet, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Defense Industry, emphasized that the construction of these military support vessels, especially the submarine rescue intervention vessels holds significance in the Navy’s modernization and meets the urgent requirements of supplementing vehicles to take on the initial emergency intervention mission to maintain the life of submarine crew-members, to transport forces, support training and exercise sessions train, and engage in safeguarding the nation’s maritime sovereignty.
