The Viettel Cyber Security prevented cyber-attacks, ensured national network security at several major international events such as the second summit between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the U.S. in Vietnam in 2019. Trinh Hoai Nam, one of Viettel’s engineers who was in charge of cyber security for the DPRK-U.S. Summit, said that he together with 20 staffs of Viettel had to work day and night to ensure security for the event.

During the summit, the information security team of the Viettel Cyber Security detected numerous distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. On the day of the summit, there were around 10 to 20 attacks from outside Vietnam and 20 to 30 inside attacks. Fortunately, all attacks were promptly prevented thanks to the thorough preparations of Viettel engineers, Nam added.

Another major event that the Viettel Cyber Security ensured information security was the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang in 2017. The attacks were pretty serious in terms of intensity. However, they were intercepted before they were able to reach the network system of the summit.

The company prevented around 30,000 cyber-attacks and network problems in Viettel’s ten international markets as well as in governmental agencies and domestic businesses in 2019. The company is the key force that directly deals with information security troubles of the country. These activities have contributed to improving the value of Viettel’s brand name in the sector, while reinforcing the trust of the Party, Government, military, and society in the group’s capabilities.

Currently, the company has built six ecosystems with 25 products, covering numerous sectors such as information safety management for enterprises, cyber-attack prevention, cloud data security, and so on. It has accomplished its set target, having increased 2019 revenue by 340% compared to 2017.
