9 high-ranking officers promoted to colonel-general or admiral

PANO – A ceremony to present promotion decisions to 9 high-ranking military and police officers was held on the afternoon of December 5th in the Presidential Palace with the chairmanship of State President Truong Tan Sang.

Present at the ceremony were also Defence Minister, General Phung Quang Thanh, representatives of Central Agencies, military services, military zones and the Internal Security Ministry.

The 9 high-ranking military and police officers that have, this time, been promoted from lieutenant-general or equivalents to colonel-general or admiral include Tran Dai Quang Minister of Internal Security Ministry; Ngo Xuan Lich, Chief of the General Department of Politics under the Defence Ministry; Dang Van Hieu, Standing-Deputy-Minister of Internal Security Ministry; Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff; Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy-Minister of Defence; Truong Quang Khanh, Deputy-Minister of Defence; Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy-Minister of Defence; Le Huu Duc, Deputy-Minister of Defence and Nguyen Van Hien, Deputy-Minister of Defence cum Chief of Navy.

Addressing the ceremony, the Vietnamese State President congratulated the 9 officers on their promotion and said that this event did bring not only joy for the promoted personnel but also honour and pride for officers, soldiers and the whole Defence and Internal Security Ministries.

By promoting the 9 high-ranking officers to the higher rank, the Party and State had recognized their personal efforts and achievements as well as highly valued the great contributions by armed forces to national construction and defence, the State President emphasized.

He also asked the 9 promoted officers to further heighten their political, military skill and spirit to excellently accomplish their tasks, to improve their knowledge and leadership, contributing more to strengthening the defence and police forces.

On behalf of the promoted officers, Chief of the General Department of Politics, Colonel-General Ngo Xuan Lich expressed gratitude to the Party and State and promised to excellently finish all assignments to deserve the honour they were given.
