Vietnamese and Thai navies to sign hydrographic cooperation
PANO - Valuing highly the outcomes of the working session between the Hydrographic Department of the Royal Thai Navy (HDRTN) and the Vietnam Hydrographic Bureau (VHB), Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh wished they would exert all-out efforts to seek cooperation opportunities, reach consensus and early sign a hydrographic cooperation agreement between the two navies.
General Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, expressed the wish at a reception for the HDRTN delegation, led by its director general, Vice Admiral Winai Maneeprag on August 9 at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense.

At the meeting, General Minh stressed the developing ties between the two militaries in general and the two navies in particular are vividly manifested via all-level delegation exchanges.
Minh also highlighted the effective maintenance of the current cooperation mechanisms, such as joint patrols at sea and port calls after the patrols, information exchanges via hot line, naval intelligence cooperation, emphasizing that they are specific manifestations of the flourishing bilateral defense cooperation, including the two navies’ ties. These have actively contributed to promoting mutual understanding and trust between the two nations and the two militaries, Minh added.

For his part, Vice Admiral Winai Maneeprag thanked the host for a warm welcome and spoke highly of the Vietnam hydrographic sector. He also agreed to support Vietnam in joining the East Asia Hydrographic Commission (EAHC).
