Accordingly, Vietnamese citizens, aged between 18 and 35, are eligible to join the contest on the website https://biendaovietnam.org.vn/ and via the smart phone application Ereka at 1:30p.m and 8:30p.m from April 8 to May 12. Each test will run for 15 minutes with ten multiple-choice questions and participants will have maximum 10 seconds to answer each question. Questions will focus on knowledge of Vietnam’s seas and islands and their role in the country’s socio-economic development as well as regulations on the management, protection, and development of marine resources and environment.

Particularly, contents of the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, the action program on the implementation of Vietnam's Maritime Strategy toward 2020, Resolution 36-NQ/TW on the sustainable marine economic development by 2030 with the vision to 2045, the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies on socio-economic development and defense and security consolidation, and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982 are expected to be questioned.

Questions of the contest also cover legal evidence affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa Archipelagos, the history of the Vietnam People’s Navy, as well as activities of youth organizations for national seas and islands.

Addressing the event, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Central Committee Nguyen Ngoc Luong said the contest aims to arouse young people’s national patriotism, love for the national seas and islands as well as their responsibility for protecting national sovereignty over the seas and islands, developing socio-economy, and consolidating national defense and security.

Accordingly, daily prize, worth VND 1 million, will be presented to contestants with ten correct answers, while ten participants with best performance in weekly contests will earn a VND 1 million prize each. Winner of the contest will receive a certificate and VND 20 million. Second, third, and consolation prizes are worth VND 8 million, VND 3 million, and VND 1 million, respectively.

The winners will be awarded through ViettelPay, a digital banking application of the Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel).
