At the fund-raising event, nearly VND 200 million was collected from officials and workers of the unit for the campaign. The unit will continue to collect donations until June 10th and will directly support needy people before the end of July.

According to union leaders, the campaign will offer water purifiers and water tanks to people in drought-hit areas. The campaign will also present school supplies to students and cash gifts to underprivileged households affected by the mass fish deaths in the central provinces.

Earlier, the unit presented 12 water purifiers, worth VND 2.2 billion in total, to Ben Tre, Tien Giang, Long An, Tra Vinh, Ca Mau, and An Giang provinces.

Due to the mass fish deaths in the central provinces, 6,000 gifts – worth over VND 2 billion in total – were offered to affected people in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien-Hue provinces.
