Sr. Lt. Gen. Trinh Van Quyet speaks at the event. |
The event was jointly hosted by the Ministry of National Defense, the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Commission for Information and Education, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provincial authorities.
The conference drew the attention of nearly 300 delegates who are leaders, scientists, experts, managers of agencies, units, and localities nationwide.
In his direction speech, Sr. Lt. Gen. Trinh Van Quyet, member of the Secretariat of the PCC, permanent member of Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Political Affairs, stressed that lessons drawn from the conference should be applied to reality. He highlighted the victory, saying that it contributed to accelerating the bankruptcy of the “Special warfare” strategy, forcing the U.S. and the Saigon government to switch to the “localized warfare” strategy. The success of the campaign was attributed to the creative application of the strategy of hitting key positions and destroying reinforcements, creating momentum and opportunities, and using appropriate forces to win key battles, leaving valuable experience for the following campaigns.
More than 70 presentations gave the general view of Binh Gia Victory, the development of Vietnamese revolutionary war, the stature of Binh Gia Victory and its lessons. Opinions recaptured the victorious campaign vividly. They all confirmed that the victory created an important turning point in the Vietnamese revolutionary war, creating a breakthrough for the Southern revolution towards the final victory. The historical values and lessons learned from Binh Gia Victory should be brought into play in the current national building and defense cause.
