According to the plan, during the 2025-2026 dry season, four search and collection teams, namely K90 of the MR9’s Department of Political Affairs, K91 of the Dong Thap Provincial Military Command, and K92 and K93 of the An Giang Provincial Military Command, will search for and collect 365 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer troops and advisors in ten provinces of Cambodia. Specifically, Team K90 will operate in Kandal and Kampong Chhnang; Team K91 in Prey Veng and Pursat; Team K92 in Kampot, Koh Kong, Kep, and Preah Sihanouk; and Team K93 in Takeo and Kampong Speu.
Speaking at the event, Major General Huynh Van Ngon, Deputy Political Commissar and Head of Steering Committee 515 of MR9, stated that over the past 24 years, MR9’s Steering Committee 515 has collected more than 3,000 remains of martyrs within Vietnam and over 8,000 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who sacrificed their lives during the war in Cambodia.
He praised generations of the search and collection teams’ members for their spirit, efforts, will and political resolve over the past time. He urged the current forces to promote the traditions of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, maintain unity, closely coordinate with Cambodian authorities and people, ensure absolute safety during task performance, and strengthen cooperation, information exchange, and coordination with Cambodian side, including military units. He emphasized the importance of respecting local customs and traditions, thereby contributing to strengthening the enduring friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia.
On behalf of the teams, Head of Team K90 Colonel La Phu Huy reaffirmed their determination to devote all spirit, responsibility, and the ‘order from the heart’ to repatriate home Vietnamese heroic martyrs as soon as possible.
