During the ceremony, delegates from Military Region 2, Dien Bien province, Hanoi Capital Command, and locals offered incense in tribute to the soldiers who had bravely fought and sacrificed their lives for the cause of national construction and defense.

Since July, 2025, the martyrs’ remains search and collection team of Military Region 2 has searched for and recovered 10 sets of martyrs’ remains in the Lao provinces of Luang Namtha, Phongsaly, and Udomxay.

Of these, two sets of remains have been identified with confirmed names and hometowns and were handed over to Steering Committees 515 of Phu Tho province and Hanoi. The remains are of Ha Van An  who was born in 1938 in Chi Dong hamlet, Quang Minh commune, Kim Anh district, Vinh Phuc province (now Dong Vo hamlet, Quang Minh commune, Hanoi); joined the military on February 6, 1960; sacrificed on February 11, 1962; and Ha Van Tho, who was born in 1931; in Van Lung hamlet, Vo Mieu commune, Thanh Son district, Phu Tho province (now Khu De 2, Van Mieu commune, Phu Tho province, enlisted on August 12, 1949, and sacrificed on December 3, 1953. They were soldiers of Division 316.

The remaining eight sets of remains, whose names, ages, and hometowns have not yet been identified, were laid to rest at Tong Khao War Cemetery in Dien Bien province. Most of the remains were found with personal items, such as hammocks, trouser buttons, and military uniforms.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Minh Phu expressed deep gratitude to these outstanding sons of the nation who devoted their youth and selflessly sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. He emphasized that, having returned to the motherland, they now rest alongside their comrades, embraced by the boundless affection of the those alive.

Burial of the martyrs’ remains

He added that the Party Organization, authorities, armed forces, and people of Dien Bien province pledged absolute loyalty to the Party’s goals and ideals and vowed to inherit the glorious revolutionary cause of the heroic martyrs.
